Stop 01 The Route

One country, on foot, one step at a time.

Ocean 2 Ocean is a walk across the full width of Canada — starting on the East Coast and ending on the West Coast. It’s a journey that will take months and span thousands of kilometres, beginning in April 2027.

Behind the scenes, preparation is already underway: planning the route, building support along the way, and getting Jody and Autum ready for months of walking across the country together.

Why Ocean 2 Ocean?

Ocean 2 Ocean exists to raise autism awareness and start real conversations about autism in communities across Canada. As Jody and Autum move from town to town, coast to coast, the goal is simple: connect with people, build understanding, and invite communities to be part of the journey.

Every stop along the route is a chance to reach people who might never have engaged with autism awareness before — and to show what's possible when a community shows up for one another.

Meet Jody & Autum

Jody's journey through life hasn't always been easy. Growing up, he faced challenges from a young age, moving between different homes and places while trying to figure out where he belonged.

For years, finding stability and a sense of purpose wasn't easy. But eleven years ago, Jody began working in store racking installation, where he discovered a talent he could take pride in. For the first time, another piece of his life's puzzle seemed to fall into place.

Then came Autum... a tiny puppy small enough to fit in the palm of his hand.

What started as a little bundle of fur grew into an incredible bond. Through love, patience and dedication, Jody raised Autum into the gentle, affectionate and loyal companion she is today.

Together, they've found something special in each other... companionship, trust and a sense of belonging.

Now Jody and Autum are preparing for their biggest adventure yet. In April 2027, they'll begin their journey across Canada, from the East Coast to the West Coast, raising autism awareness and connecting with communities along the way.

One man. One dog. And a whole new chapter of their story waiting to be written.

Hi everybody! I'm Autum... but you can call me AutumBottom!

I was born May 27, 2022, and I'm 4 years old. I'm a Rottweiler, St. Bernard and Mastiff mix, and even though I was the runt of the litter, I've grown into a healthy 80-pound girl!

But I'm still a lap dog... right, Dad? 😂

I love being outside, going for walks (off-leash is my favourite!), meeting new people, playing with my toys and taking afternoon naps. Sometimes I even chase shiny things... or my own shadow!

I'm a pretty smart girl, too! I know my left from my right because Dad teaches me directions on our walks. I can even give high fives!

I'm not a big fan of thunderstorms, strong winds, yelling or loud truck engine brakes. But give me a friendly face and some attention, and I'm one happy pup! And if I jump up to say hello... sorry! I just get excited!

In April 2027, Dad and I are heading out on the adventure of a lifetime... walking across Canada!

I can't wait to meet all of you along the way!
